Visual Design:
Abstraction
For this project we had to make something abstract. No text or typography was allowed. I wanted to use an object that was important to me, and I landed onthe Kalimba. This instrument always helps me relax and creates a calm and chill environment. This exact feeling is what I wanted to show in my project by showing a contrast between chaos and uncertainty, which later turns into cheerful and hopeful music and visuals when the kalimba starts playing.

During this project I discovered a (partialy) free VST Plugin that I could use in Ableton called Spitfire LABS.
In LABS there are a bunch of usable packs with instruments that all invoke a different feeling.
During this project I was able to combine foley sounds and sounds from LABS to create the specific feeling I wanted the audience to have while seeing my installation.

I learned how to make simple animations using Photoshop & Illustrator. The scribbles and flower animations were made using the Photoshop timeline, then later ported into Premiere Pro.

Reflection
I' m happy with the variety of software I ended up using during this project. I made use of Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro and Ableton. I had to figure out how to efficiently combine these workflows to integrate aspects I made in one program into the other.
I received some feedback about the use of objects, and I agree that I would have loved to use more objects to project on instead of just the kalimba and the background, which is something I would look into if I ever want to continue this project.
